Solar Energy is a powerful, effortlessly renewable resource. In order to extract solar energy for electrical use one must have solar panels equipped with batteries and most importantly abundant direct sunlight.
Unlike fossil fuels, solar energy does not damage the environment when the stored electricity is used. Since fossil fuels are often combusted in order to generate energy from a chemical reaction, there are chemical byproducts. The most maligned byproduct of fossil fuels today is Carbon dioxide. Carbon dioxide is a major contributor to global warming due to its nature as a greenhouse gas.
Solar Panels do not create harmful pollution when energy is extracted from the batteries. For this reason there are common conceptions that Solar Energy is “pure” and that there is no environmental impact in the creation and installation of Solar Panels.
Hey! Solar Panels have to come from somewhere!
It takes energy to create Solar Panels and there are several types of resins that are required for construction not to mention the transport and refinement process for the base materials to make the resins. So what ends up happening is that the creation of Solar Panels actually requires fossil fuels in order to chemically make the necessary compounds and to transport them.
The reason why Solar Panels are gaining more attention and the companies that create them are becoming more profitable is because Solar Energy is an “Investment” type of enhancement for a building/vehicle/energy array. Once the Solar Panels are in place they are able to extract energy from the Sun for years! There is maintenance involved with Solar Panels. But compared with the rising costs of oil and the rising indirect costs of environmental damage, Solar Panels are becoming a more environmentally friendly choice, and lucrative business opportunity for those companies that provide, install and develop Solar Energy Technology.
