It’s not every day that someone puts blood, sweat, tears and emotional hours into helping animals…unless you are “Lighting the Dark.”

Lighting the Dark is a proud parent who puts her free time into spreading the word on anti-animal abuse, animal rights, anti-animal testing and fights against the wholesale slaughter of animals. iSolarPlanet first encountered Lighting the Dark on MySpace when we were looking for cool new friends that might be interested in alternative energy or green living.

The information that Lighting the Dark provides on her MySpace page includes ways to get informed about abused animals and animals in captivity. She had a link to a covert video made by animal extremists who were rescuing bunnies from a scientific research facility. (Oftentimes these rabbits are either killed during research or else after research is completed.) The video was inspiring yet slightly disturbing…I saw people in ski masks that looked like people out of Mission Impossible.

The whole experience of being friends with Lighting the Dark is something that goes beyond simple Environmental Awareness. It’s like being part of an activist community that is undaunted by the average social superfluity that permeates MySpace. While most people are either trying to promote their band or meet new people, Lighting the Dark uses both video clips and thought provoking pictures in order to inform and convince.

Add Lighting the Dark as a friend on MySpace now and get to know someone who cares tremendously about the Environment and Animals. Even though I often get suprised and sometimes stunned by the activities of activist groups and their supporters. The opportunities for learning and making a difference never stop when you open your mind and stop for a second to make a new friend.
